The artist created this painting in reaction to the terrible violence happening in my ancestral homeland of Ukraine as it struggles to tear itself away from Russia's grasping influence. The egg - a symbol of rebirth - contains an apple, symbol of knowledge, surrounded by the blue skies and yellow wheat fields of the Ukrainian flag.
